What's the Product's Name?

I'm not sure it ever had a very proper name.

Describe the product in a single sentence.

Gmail Dialer was a service that let people call phones directly through gmail.com, with US and Canada numbers being free to call.

When was the product launched? Provide a specific date, if possible.

August 25, 2010

When was the product discontinued? Provide a specific date, if possible.

I'm not sure of the date. It's just not there anymore, but I can't find any obituaries.

What type of product was it? App, Service, or Hardware?

Service.

There's some examples online of how it in use: https://www.wikihow.com/Call-Phones-from-Gmail

I also remember using it circa 2015 or so.

Another killed thing, maybe these two died together? https://gmail.googleblog.com/2008/11/say-hello-to-gmail-voice-and-video-chat.html

IIRC/IME this was also called Hangouts Dialer; which got retired sometime in 2020, example user-support-thread: https://support.google.com/voice/thread/82966916/when-hangout-dialer-is-discontinued-any-alternative-for-making-voip-calls-using-voice?hl=en
