Allow participants to remove their own claims
The following problems can arise with the current structure
-
The participant claiming the bounty can possibly make a mistake while claiming, as a consequence of confusion/haste, and claim the wrong BOUNTY points or for the wrong issue/PR.
-
The participant claims the bounty before the respective PR is merged (a majority of participants do that), and the bounty points get altered during the course of the issue.
-
Once wrongly claimed on a PR, the existing record now doesn't allow them to claim a fresh bounty, the correct one. The only way out is if the participant informs the admin, the admin checks it out, edits the bounty and awards the correct points.
-
There is always the possibility of confusion/human error where the admin fails to identify the mistake made by the participant (before the participants inform them) and rejects the wrongly claimed bounty. This becomes a nightmare for the participant because they can't submit another bounty for the same PR and a nightmare for admin simply because they have to keep an eye out consciously for any discrepancies in BOUNTY points. Then there is the constant anxiety of the participant 'what if it gets rejected'.
-
It's understood that admins will thoroughly check the PRs before accepting the bounty, but providing the ability to remove claims ensures that there is another filter until the claims reach the admins, and the participants can make a 100% sure that they don't mess up.
The participants should have the freedom to remove the claims they make (before they are accepted/rejected) to completely rule out any possibility of the above happening. It definitely is a fault on the part of the participants, but the platform could be inclusive enough to allow them to rectify it
P.S. kinda going through it myself right now, so i figured this could be a valid issue @championswimmer
