Can we tighten up the layout of search results for phones?

That comment thread is attached to a post requesting that we collapse the filter on search results (which was especially bad on phones). That's done. However, further conversation raised the question of whether we can tighten that up even more on small displays, perhaps by collapsing the advanced help or reducing the whitespace at the top. What can we do to make that page more phone-friendly?
