M8 kernel 3.10.61, Tuner Support
Hi could you please tell me if the drivers for the dvbsky s2 s960 are supported in this version of your Openelec (5.0.3 kernel 3.10.61). I'm trying to get it to power up but having no luck, it powered up in windows when i installed the driver but not until then.
Does that mean that the drivers are not in the setup, is there a way of SSH them in somehow, do you have them to hand as all i have read is that you have to build the drivers and that's way above my head.
I found this but dont know if it would work http://openelec.tv/forum/83-dvb-s-s2-support/28765-dvbsky-support
thanks
Unfortunately according to the http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVBSKY_S960: support in-kernel is expected in Linux kernel 3.18. OE for Amlogic currently runs with on kernel 3.10.
Is there no way of patching it somehow. If i could get access to the operating system on the m8 box I I'd give it a go.
Or is it that drivers can't be placed in the m8 images until a newer kernel comes out. Who decides when the kernel changes on the m8 box.
Kernel source code is here: https://github.com/codesnake/linux
I'm lost lol. Do I need to have a linux operating system to build the driver in then add it somehow to my files on the box. Just not sure where to build the driver and then how to get it on to my box. I've seen the files in the source code for the m8 image but that's where I get lost on how to use them.
Sorry for this but maybe I'm in over my head. I've used terminal in linux before and happy enough downloading the driver code to build from the dvbsky website but not sure how to implement to the box.
