A/V Ouput Not Functioning
A/V Output does not appear to be working. I can get audio output from the HDMI output, but the A/V analog output will not produce any sound.
What box you are talking about?
The unit is a Keedox M8 unit. http://www.amazon.com/Keedox%C2%AE-Amlogic-Bluetooth-Streaming-Android/dp/B00KCG95M6
It has like many other of the M8 boxes an A/V port on the back that will output composite video and analog audio. Prior to moving over to OpenELEC I was able to output HDMI to my TV and use the A/V port to output analog audio to my stereo receiver.
can confirm problems with the AV output. My box: M8 with S802-H SoC and PCB 'M9&M8_TVBox_V01_0728. Issues found:
- composite video appears on the red cinch plug of my cable (different systems exist to assign Right/Left/Video/Ground to the 4 rings on the 3.5 mm plug)
- no audio
- can get video, no audio, by following sequence: boot with HDMI, remove hdmi, via ssh issue 'echo 572cvbs > /sys/class/display/mode'. From a boot without hdmi plug cannot get the AV to work; briefly in NTSC the M8 logo appears but then there is PAL sync but no video modulation. Tried all commands that I found in set_display_mode.sh from the official android KitKat firmware. But no effect. The setprop and getprop commands from android's toolbox are not available but probably make the difference. The KitKat firmware makes AV work so it is not an hardware problem.
Some progress: Have now set the kernel configuration CONFIG_AM_TV_OUTPUT2=y (among other settings i experimented with, but i think this is the one that makes the difference) The video now comes up in NTSC mode. Can be switched to PAL from the command line or from Kodi system display settings if the display can show the NTSC picture.. Remains to be seen why there is no audio.
I have the same problem on the amlogic MX2.. it seems to switch but no output (not on yellow, white, or red).

Matrixcom firmware http://matricom.net/install-openelec-xbmc-g-box-mx2/ does not have this issue.
Same issue with me, I have no sound with A/V output. My box is M8 S802 k200a called OTT TV BOX. I flashed OpenELEC for Amlogic 4.97.3 with Kodi 14.1 Helix on M8. Working on my box is well via HDMI, but when I connect a monitor without speaker, I have any sound via a/v analogue output(3.5 mm). This is the log of aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: AMLM8AUDIO [AML-M8AUDIO], device 0: AML PCM AML-M8-0 [] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: AMLM8AUDIO [AML-M8AUDIO], device 1: SPDIF PCM dit-hifi-1 [] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
I have edited /storage/.config/asounf.conf as below. pcm.!default { type hw card 0 device 0 format S16_LE } ctl.!default { type hw card 0 } However, didn't work. Would you check this issue?
PS: Once the a/v analogue output works properly, after just flashing the firmware with SD card and edit /storage/.config/asound.conf as device 1 -> device 0 . It can be working well unless power off(not reboot). I think the sound control by ALSA is only available in warm-booting(reboot via ssh or xbmc reboot) without kernel load. Once the system is powered off then on, device 0 ( a/v analogue output ) won't work.
Anyone managed to get the sound via the AV working. I have the M8 box model number M8N or also known also as OTT TV BOX. Everything else is working perfect. Just there is no sound via the AV port. It would be nice to have it back.
