M8 - updating

I installed "OPENELEC DEV UPDATE"

is it possible to use this on an M8? I see an option to specify a custom source.

I'm just trying to figure out if there is a way to update the m8/openelec/kodi (mainly kodi) to the latest version.

Can I just upgrade kodi or do I have to update the entire OpenElec install?

I think it is not possible to use the addon, because it works only for official releases. M8 support is unofficial. You cannot update just Kodi. You need to update the whole OpenELEC to get new Kodi.
