Show search results as video grid /gallery
⚬ PROBLEM: Current search results are weak; this incentivizes the user to use the front page more and more, just similar to TikTok. This is distracting and not an efficient way to view YouTube, especially for people working or studying. Search shows you few videos at a time, and there's no way to quickly and effectively browse YouTube. Showing more videos per each search gives back power to the user.
⚬ SOLUTION: Just like how the related video can show up under the video in a grid format, we should have an option to show search results as a grid of videos.
⚬ ALTERNATIVES: There are two options for turning on the feature, both could be implemented. Option 1 - Make a button in the extension menus that turns the feature on. Option 2 - Have a button in the search results page that toggles between a list view and a grid view for YouTube search results. Other features: Could also have an option to make search results toggle between an infinite scroller grid or a fixed number of videos per page, with the ability to change the number of videos displayed per grid (20 up to 100). Could also have an option to change the size of the videos. Ability to show only text thumbnails on search results.
⚬ RELEVANCE / SCOPE: This should be something that people who need it toggle on. For example, college students and people learning could use this feature to browse lectures and tutorials more efficiently.
⚬ "SIDE EFFECTS": It's a really good feature that would add a lot to the viewer experience of users. Only uninterested parties would be the phone users in YouTube browser, as the phone is too small to make use of this feature.
⚬ CONTEXT: This should be easy to code as the extension already has something similar. When you move comments to the side panels, the video thumbnails are shown in a grid below the video player.
