Deleted images are re-used on other images

When I delete an image it sometimes will reuse the preview and fullsize view still when other images are auto-added to the gallery. I was wondering why some would re-appear and decided to click the folder icon to see the file itself and it brought me to a completely different image. I've been deleting images I possibly wanted doh!

I tried recycled and non-recycled view it seems to still happen. Actually clicking "synchronize files" fixes.

OS: Ubuntu 22.04
