Cockpit disconnects when adding a bridge

Open rsimai opened this issue 5 months ago • 0 comments

Explain what happens

  1. nothing fancy, just DHCP. I was using up to date openSUSE Tumbleweed with Cockpit 320.
  2. open Networking
  3. click Add bridge, including the currently used network interface
  4. after a few seconds the UI disconnects and Cockpit is useless

The bridge obviously gets a new IP address but the UI stays with the previous that doesn't exist anymore. There's no warning before and no indication of where to connect to. If the server is remote and you have no other ways to check the network it's lost.

Expected: at least a warning before so the user is aware that the connection is going to be lost. Better, some magic that shows the new IP address or preferably redirects the browser to seamlessly continue.

Not sure if this is considered an enhancement but it's too easy to shoot yourself into the foot, so I'd see this as bug. I couldn't find anything in the docs to explain this behavior.
