Turn on administrative access button causes error

Open myviolinsings opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Explain what happens

  1. I never get the option to checkmark "Reuse password for privileged user"
  2. I attempt to gain administrative access via buttons.
  3. Clicking either button brings up password entry box.
  4. Any keystroke or just waiting a few seconds results in "Oooops" being displayed where formerly there was lock symbol with Limited Access note.
  5. My user is in the wheel group.
  6. This happens with both buttons to gain admin access and whether I use password manager or attempt to type in the password.
  7. I am using FF, but have tried Brave with same results.
  8. Only reason for using web interface is installing Cockpit on Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon produces a blank screen that never loads the login (see screenshot below). This does not happen on Fedora machines. cockpit login web cockpit login web2 Screenshot from 2024-02-16 09-06-11

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have not found this situation on any threads.

UPDATE: The above issues persist. But decided to give it a go in Vivaldi and was able to turn on admin access via button. It allowed me to type password and now shows Administrative Access. So, maybe a bug in other browsers? Would still like to know why the flatpak client app does not work on LM 21.3 Cinnamon desktop.

UPDATE: Ungoogled Chromium browser also works for turning on Admin Access.
