Hi @Smana - I'm happy to set up a kickoff call with the organizers you think should be there, if you could please select a time on my calendly..
Hi @AudMonte01 , we're happy to welcome a new member in the team : Rachid. I've update the issue accordingly. Our kickoff meeting next week will be the opportunity to talk about the updates to apply (Renaming France and our new member). Thank you
Thank you, @Smana - and welcome to Rachid! I added Rachid to your kickoff call next week, as well as added him as an admin to SMapply. @k8tgreenley - will add him to the organizer email alias you are creating for France vs Paris?
Hi @Smana - in an effort to update your SMapply CFP, do you all have CFP dates in mind (ideally ending no later than 6 weeks ahead of the event)? If not, please think on it and we can discuss at next week's meeting. Thank you
If not, please think on it and we can discuss at next week's meeting
Hi @AudMonte01 , we'll try to come with an answer.
Hello
To recap our meeting notes from today's kick-off call:
- First KCD postponed from 2019
- 100% in-person and will record presentations.
- Target is 800 attendees
- Possibly 3 tracks in 1-day
- Likely two-tiers of pricing
Some questions that came up were:
- Monetary support from the CNCF is a goal in 2023.
- To get some ideas of what has worked for inclusiveness in KCDs, please talk to @ams0 with KCD Netherlands and @amye from the CNCF community side. ** Aurélien mentioned he wants to add a discount option on the prospectus for sponsors ** We discussed leaving about 5 talks open in the lineup if KCD France has the happy problem of too many good submissions. These talks can then bee curated, if you are struggling finding diverse speakers.
To-Dos
- Audra to create a 1-page sponsor resource for best practices, and analytics for a successful sponsorship strategy.
- Organizers to connect with Alessandro and Amye about diversity and inclusion successes and strategy.
@Smana - it looks like the CFP we created for KCD France was already copied from Paris, and there was much text in the description. That said, I have added generic text that most KCDs use, so it will allow you to edit as you wish.

Thank you @AudMonte01 , we'll have a look at it with @jcsirot .
Provided CNCF access to all event social handles
Hello @AudMonte01 What does this means exactly? I'm not sure to understand what is expected here from us.
I suppose sharing twitter and other social media login with CNCF, which makes sense. Please provide some indication how you want to receive it (slack, email) and we can share with CNCF our login details.
Yes @Smana - see Alessandro's comment. Thank you, @ams0
Thank you Aurélien and Lana for meeting today! I am adding notes here from our check-in:
- We went over the marketing plan and timeline in addition to the following
- CFP numbers are 35 submitted and 67 in progress (close date is October 31) -- Option to add "grace period" longer than 2 hours, but the number of submissions are looking really good, so you may not have to do this -- Send follow-up email two weeks out to those 67 submissions in progress to remind them to submit. Then another reminder 1-week out from October 31 close date
- Received many Sponsorship signups - so much so where they need to turn down some sponsors -- This might be a good opportunity to have a sponsor dedicated for paying for A/V -- Note: All sponsors will have the Silver label (community event)
- Set next check-in for Tuesday, October 8
Hi @AudMonte01 and thank you for these notes :) Could you please add Emmanuel Feller to the organization group (mailing list, community account...)? I just updated the issue He has a pretty good experience on organizing events here in France.
Not a problem @Smana. Shall I add Emmanuel to SMapply and Bevy as an organizer as well?
