What is your mission statement or objective for this new chapter?
This region and the region covering the Southern parts of Canada look quite empty. Our company has an established office here. If we can establish a CNCG in this region, we can easily support it both financially and in other ways. I will host the same series of University Laboratories, Startup programs and other events here as I aimed in Istanbul.

This is amazing and I am super excited to see that Cloud Native York is Expanding and Growing. Kudos @halil-bugol and Good Luck
Together we can build a stronger Cloud Native York. Thank you for your support. @abebars
@halil-bugol can you please answer the below questions:
- Confirm your involvement since you aren't currently located in New York? Who from the list of organizers is local to upstate NY?
- Where in upstate New York is this taking place?
- Are the organizers only from Kubezy?
- Can you please provide the cadence of your meetup, i.e. will it be monthly, quarterly, etc.? What day of the week will it be held?
- Is there a specific audience you are trying to reach?
@k8tgreenley
- I now spend about 4 months there and 8 months in Turkey. I'm not a resident, but I'm there at least 1 week a month. Hakan, Yavuz and Stephane are there full time.
- We are located in Rochester
- That is for now, but we will also have friends from Equinix and AWS who will participate.
- We plan it on the last Tuesday evening or Thursday evening of every month. Maybe some months there may be two events.
- I don't understand this question, but we would like to meet with anyone interested in cloud-native.
We also talked to some of the NYC organizers and KCD NY organizers and will be coming together at the Birthday Party. We want to carry it out in cooperation. They will also support us. This area is quite empty.
ping @k8tgreenley @AudMonte01
Thank you, @halil-bugol - do you have anyone who can commit to co-organizing with you that lives in upstate New York full time?
Hey @hakanagul
@AudMonte01 Hello, I am living in Rochester, NY full time. I will be doing the co-organization and also Yavuz and Stephane are living in the area, so they can help too.
Thank you for confirming, @hakanagul
Each one of you will need to confirm on GitHub in this ticket that you agree to the above organizer terms, and have taken the Open Source Inclusive Training, mentioned.
@AudMonte01 I finished the Open Source Inclusive Training and I agree to the terms above.
@AudMonte01 I agree to all the terms above.
I have successfully completed the Open Source Inclusive Training and hereby agree to the terms outlined above.
We are ready @AudMonte01
Thanks, @halil-bugol Halil - there is just one problem. All the organizers are from the same company. The third check-box was originally marked, "I/We agree if there is more than one organizer now or onboarded in the future, the majority come from different companies", but I had to un-check it.
That said, please let me know if there is one of you keen to organize, and have others in mind that can help that are from other companies.

Does need to be in New York full time? Can we add an organizer who lives far away?
Yes, you can add an organizer who lives in NY part time. But given there would be 5 organizers with 20% being that of a different company, we should aim for more than 50% from different companies - "the majority". So you would have to add 2 more organizers from different companies.
@AudMonte01 Okay I'll find a few more organizer
Any word on this @halil-bugol ?
Hey Audra, we found one organizer and finally I'm looking for another organizer. @yavuzselimgul is currently working on this issue.
Hello @halil-bugol and @yavuzselimgul - how is the search going?
@AudMonte01 We found 3 more organizers from AWS and other companies. We will talk to them and add them before the end of this month.
That is excellent news, @halil-bugol - as long as they are local to New York, and each from different companies, then we can proceed. What is their interest?
This issue has been open for over 6 months. Please re-open it when your team is properly assembled meeting all the perimeters.
Kind regards, Audra
Hello! @AudMonte01 @halil-bugol At KCD NYC June 4 2025 I was able to get confirmation with four other "Upstate NY" residents from IBM, Red Hat, and independent contractors that there's a growing need for this CNCF Group!
We're motivated and funded to make this happen, and are targeting early September for our first event. We're focussing on the New York Capital Region, around Albany, NY, as a meeting place.
We will be drawing participants from the various colleges, universities, research institutions, and companies in the Captial District and beyond. A few examples are the Rensellear Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY (RPI), The various New York State and IBM technology research sites throughout the region.

Hi @newgoliath
The team here is not available to do this task right now. @AudMonte01 I think this issue should be closed and a new issue should be opened for this chapter.
@newgoliath good luck!
Hey @newgoliath @AudMonte01
I would still like to be a part of this. I am no longer affiliated with Halil -- however, I think this is still very valuable and I can contribute. I just finished my 3rd year at Rochester Institute of Technology.
My personal email is [email protected], and my linkedin is hakanahmetgul
Looking forward to hear more!
Thank you for your interest @hakanagul and @halil-bugol for the updates. I agree that a new issue should be generated with all that are interested.
@hakanagul - please convene with @cfilleke and @shpwrck to come to a common working and commitment agreement with taking the organizer standards into consideration.
