This leads me to the question if / how my potential sitemap module can add a native Symfony bundle to the application kernel.

Composer could be used to do all of this. PageKit seems to do it this way. It needs to be looked into, but this might be a starting point: https://github.com/pagekit/pagekit/blob/develop/app/installer/src/Helper/Composer.php.

I am afraid that I don't have enough time at the moment to investigate this.

I finally added support for Docusaurus v2 in https://github.com/cmfcmf/docusaurus-search-local/commit/f8619b72ec748ac084b53cf7c88157419a27863a.

Thanks for letting me know! This is now fixed in the latest version of the plugin.
