SteamVR just says "Next Up" and game isnt shown in headset

On vive, and I launch the game and type "vr_mode 10" into the console, and it enters VR mode. But steam VR just shows a window saying "Next Up Gzdoom" Not sure what to do or how to fix it, it's pretty annoying

I launch the game directly from SteamVR by adding it to steam and editing the launch options ticking "Show in VR library" works fine.
