A better File Explorer

The File Explorer panel is like if you took Windows Explorer's sidebar, then took out everything from that but "This PC", then took out everything from that except the hard drives. It's not very efficient unless you store your documents in the root folder of a hard drive. On Windows, I have to expand C:, Users, myuser, and Sync, which wastes too much horizontal space. It also doesn't remember my position from the last time the program was open, so I have to do that every time I open any file. Why not have the ability to drag any folder into the File Explorer root area, or add a Favorites section there or something? At least I would like it to remember what tree I had open last time.
