Clementine ERROR message: No URI handler implimented for CDD

Open circuitikzuser opened this issue 5 years ago • 10 comments

I cannot use the latest Clementine, as the dependencies in Debian is unresolvable.

I use Clementine (1.3.1+git542-gf00d9727c+dfsg-1~mx17+1)

System: Linux version 4.19.0-5-amd64 ([email protected]) (gcc version 6.3.0 20170516 (Debian 6.3.0-18+deb9u1)) #1 SMP Debian 4.19.37-2~mx17+2 (2019-06-18) NAME="MX" VERSION="18 (Continuum)" ID="mx" VERSION_ID="18" PRETTY_NAME="MX 18 (Continuum)" ANSI_COLOR="0;34" HOME_URL="https://mxlinux.org" BUG_REPORT_URL="https://mxlinux.org" PRETTY_NAME="MX 18.3 Continuum" DISTRIB_ID=MX DISTRIB_RELEASE=18.3 DISTRIB_CODENAME=Continuum DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="MX 18.3 Continuum" PRETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch)" NAME="Debian GNU/Linux" VERSION_ID="9" VERSION="9 (stretch)" ID=debian HOME_URL="https://www.debian.org/" SUPPORT_URL="https://www.debian.org/support" BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.debian.org/"

Expected behavior / actual behavior

Clementine used to work. Expected behavior, Clementine should play my virtual cds made available through cdemu. I created several playlists and it worked perfectly.

Clementine now comes with error messages if I play something from my previous working playlists. See eror message in the following file "https://linuxmusicians.com/download/file.php?id=1851" ERROR message: No URI handler implemented for CDD

(For the record I verified cdemu works I can play tracks by mounting virtual cds and playing tracks)

Im out of luck. Damn it was good when clementine still worked with the cdemu virtual cds. But something crucial must be uninstalled and I cant figure out why I get this error.

I would really appreciate help.

To add to my original post:

Clementine gives me a cdda error.

I opened one of the virtual CDS with audacious and got a similar problem. Audacious also complains about a string passed not found containing cdda but once it opens the interface I can play the files perfectly.

I noticed that this string contains & thus spaces...! Therefore could it be that a string interpreter for spaces was uninstalled that was necessary for Clementine and audacious to execute these paths ? If so which programs helps applications using paths that has spaces in them ? And if a program is needed to do this, it should be a prereq1uisite for clementine at install.

See image.

To ADD: I since confirmed that Deadbeef can play all the CD images served by cdemu, so the problem is squarely with clementine as it is now confirmed that deadbeef can play all cds and tracks. It seems that elemntine developed an allergy for spaces in filenames if I can be so bold to suggest the cause of the problem

To ADD: Clementine plays some mp4s but doesnt play some mp4s recorded with the SAME iphone e.g. The iphone canot change its mp4 format. These are recordings made with a recording app.

When Clementine fails to play an mp4, it gives me the follwoing error. "http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=289lklk&s=9"

Since clementine is dependent on gstreamer, and I reinstalled clementine it didnt fix this dependency as it should.

In your opinion which dependency from gstreamer is needed to play all mp4s ?

We have same error when tried direct play from DVDRW via click. The File > Music > Open Audio CD menuitem working fine. Clementine is playing Audio CDs

blackPantherOS,

I never found a solution to this as no-one answered to my thread. So I gave up on Clementine and now use DeadBeef. It is much better. Clementine has a great interface which i missed at first, but you can actually redesign DeadBeef's interface as it is reconfigurable and it works way better than Clementine which still hangs.

Clementine turned out to be unsupported eyecandy and is clearly not supported at all as posts with serious bugs like this is completely ignored. So if you want tio try deadbeef I am sure it will solve your problems you have with clementine. Just learn to redesign/configure the deadbeef interface to your liking. as an example I like the blue/white song lists highlights in Clementine and I could reconfigure the deadbeef interface to look like that too. Deadbeef is actively supported and they immediately fixed any bugs I found.

Interestingly, other tools such as mpv use a cdda:// URI scheme. Was cdd: renamed to cdda: in a supporting library?

This issue can still be reproduced on 1.4.0-rc1 (Gentoo/Funtoo). Insert a CD and attempt to play it in Clementine.

While Clementine will display the audio CD information (i.e. album name, artist, song, etc) it will not allow me to play any tracks by an means. It gives me the No URI handler implemented for "cdd" error.

Clementine version - 1.4.0~rc1+dfsg-1

Same here, using Gentoo. Workaround "Music > Open Audio CD menu item" works fine.

It is now two years later and a fresh new install of MX21 and a fresh clementine installation. So it could not have been the previous distro or anything else than Clementine causing the problem. Clementine STILL gives me the "No URI handler implimented for CDD"

If there are any developers around, please check if the URI should not be CDDA and not CDD as user KlipperKyle commented. It sounds very plausible to be the problem.

As an example Deadbeef uses ...... and I quote: \0:FILETYPE\0cdda\0

This problem is unresolved under Ubuntu 20.04.4.
