Smart playlists which retrieve whole albums instead of tracks

Currently all the smart playlists operate on tracks only, and I don't think there is a way of making ones which add full albums to the playlist.

What I'd really love is to have a smart/dynamic playlist that will continuously play random albums from the entire collection. There is already a shuffle mode to shuffle by album but you have to add a lot of albums to the playlist for it to be much use.

I agree that it would be a great feature if you could use smart playlists with albums.

It's 8.5 years later, is this possible now?

We as a project haven’t managed to attract sufficient developers to build a sustainable community; this is why feature requests are stalled indefinitely. Note however that this doesn’t mean the project is dead or won’t accept patches!
