Thunderbird 136
Will there be a Version that works with Thunderbird 136?
Thanks.
that would be really great
@JPRuehmann Sorry for the delayed response. @librelegal Yes once I get ImportExportTools out shortly I will work on a PrintingTools release. Please note I may not be able to keep up with monthly releases. So check before you upgrade. @cleidigh
Thanks for the Response, it seems Mozilla has changed the api. The last version of Printing Tools was for the 128ltr but worked with changes in the Manifest (max Version) till 135. But after the Update to 136 it wont work anymore.
in case you need support or tester, let us know
@JPRuehmann Yes TB v136 removed jsm support now requiring es6 modules. I'm still a few days out from finishing ImportExportTools which is far more complex. I took a quick look at PrintingTools and I think it won't be to bad. I'm just crossing fingers there are no depreciation issues with all the printing tricks.
Hey @pechh good to hear from you, been a while! Yes any testing help always appreciated 👍
@JPRuehmann @librelegal @pechh For those of you that remain on the release channel, bear in mind I and many other addon developers will not be doing monthly releases. So please be forwarned!!
cheers Christopher

@cleidigh
Hi Christopher! Greetings for Greece. I tried TB 136 with the b4 printing tools and it seems to be working great.
No words can describe how thankful we are for your continuous support on this!
HI Christopher, I tried the first beta b4 and it seems to work form me. No issued find, but I'll continue to testing
I´ve just tried the new Version. The only problem I have is that it not using the Path I entered in the Settings. entered: /home/ruehmann/downloads used: /home/ruehmann everything else seems to work. Thanks.
User defined time and date Format is not used. It uses only its internal format. Thanks.

Yiasou @madvinegar ! Good to hear from you, hope you are staying away from seismic activity! Thanks for the kudos. Xristophoros
@JPRuehmann Regarding the date: There are two uses for the custom date, the header and in pdf file name. Each has its own definition. The header custom date seems to work fine. However, the use of date or date_custom fails and prevents any file output. This is a module reference I missed.
This doesn't sound exactly like your issue? Can you describe your issue in more detail given the above? @cleidigh

Thanks @kiki-ja . I have one or two issues with the dates because I missed a new reference to the date module. @cleidigh

Thanks @pechh ! @cleidigh
@cleidigh i see so far that b4 for TB 136 works perfect. Madvinegar's comment is exactly what i wanted to add.👍👏
@tidebre67 Filen Danke! You know from our many conversations that it's the positivity and gracious support from my users (and friends) around the world like @madvinegar and yourself that makes it all worth it! Christopher
All Mozilla installations on my Side are from the ftp Site (Download and extract to /op/). BtW. The Date/Time in the headers seem to work correctly. And the Date/Time in the footer on the right Side?
Re_ [cleidigh_printing-tools-ng] Thunderbird 136 (Issue #281).pdf
@JPRuehmann Can you tell me which date was not working and what was the result?
For the path issue, check the preferences for extensions.printingtoolsng.pdf.output_dir @cleidigh
Both Fields should look as in the header. for Example Mit. 19 Mär. 2025 19.09.
The Path seems to be a OS thing because it opens the Preview with the last settings (Printer and Path) no matter what iI enter in the Settings.
@JPRuehmann Ok I think I understand what you are observing, the two issues are related. First the date: The date setting for use within a pdf filename is completely separate from that used in the header as most users have a more verbose header date than for file names. The custom date format for pdf Filenames is set on the pdf tab. It is then used in the filename setting as the ${date_custom} token or for the default date ${date}
Both tokens are broken in b4, but fixed for the b5 next beta. Now thepath issue is a behavior issue. If you setup apath for pdf autosave this path is not able to be used by the preview. It's just technically not possible for me topass it to the preview engine of Thunderbird. The same is true of the custom filenames including the date. Preview always just uses the subject.
So the pdf autosave works separately. If you set the directory and select one message then click the PTNG Button, you will get a prompt to autosave or preview. If you click preview you will see the formatted message, but neither the path or filename can be used.
If you click Ok for autosave, your path and filename will always be used. If you have multiple messages selected, they will be saved without any prompt.
You can test this with b4 as long as you don't include either date token until I get b5 date fix out, probably later today or tomorrow.
I hope this makes sense. @cleidigh
Ok. thanks for the clarification. This makes sense.
