[Tips] Creating and using profiles for testing is recommended

Open kiki-ja opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

To all issue participants.

When reporting problems or various tests, it is recommended to create and use a different profile for testing or reporting than the one you use on a daily basis.

The reasons for this are as follows.

  1. Avoid the possibility of beta or debug versions breaking normal use profiles.
  2. Avoid the influence of beta and debug versions on profiles for normal use.
  3. Enables to check the pure functionality of the add-on itself.
  4. Avoid conflicts with other add-ons.
  5. Easy replacement of add-ons.

See below for instructions on how to create additional new profiles.

in short: start thunderbird with -p or -P 2020-12-06-13-10-10-4c936b

Thunderbird will start with the profile manager. There you can select, create and remove thunderbird profiles at start time.
