The CI is failing because we have pinned to an old nightly. If you can change the Travis configuration, I'll merge this

Might be good to setup dependabot. You can schedule it to run monthly so it doesn't bug you too much. If you don't have a Cargo.lock checked in, then it just worries about upgrading you past breaking changes. If the breaking change didn't impact you, then great, you can merge it. If it did, then you at least know it is there to upgrade.
