These seem to trigger the DRC:

... So far I've been ignoring them manually but I figured I'd at least report it
Good point, also the keep out area is very out of date as KiCAD now has rule areas. I will wait until KiCAD 9 is released in a couple of weeks and then resolve this.
I remember reading somewhere that it's a good idea to cut a hole there, so maybe an edge cut would be a good option?
Actually I have a more up to date version of this library and I have aactually added edge cuts! Promise I will work on it when Kicad9 comes out in a couple of days!
When faced with errors, one can simply ignore the DRC and send the pcb to fab.
That said, this is my first PCB, so the main product of this production run is mistakes to learn from
