NSArchiver output incompatible with vanilla NSUnarchiver

Objects serialized with NSArchiver can't be deserialized with vanilla NSUnarchiver. Looking at the raw data, it seems that the 2 serialisation formats simply are different. Am I missing something? Awesome...
