Labels broken in 2.4.. won't take them at all.

Cannot add labels...it just makes a sound when I hit the enter key after typing in a label on an entry. Tried editing them in XML and the bookmark file saved shows "<user_label />". instead of "<user_label></user_label>". When I add the latter, application abends when loading the bookmark file (when "<user_label />" still exists in an entry) or ignores the entry altogether (when all entries in a bookmark file are changed to "<user_label></user_label>".
