Metadata date validation

The other bug is that I sometimes entered the date with a . and sometimes a / - sometimes I may have entered the year as 20 or sometimes 2020. So some statements will say 01/08/20 and another may have 01/04/2020 with full year specified. Should the date view/date saved be smart enough to show consistent date format irrespective of what I entered?
