Sticky Header for TaskDetails

Open fkorotkov opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

When logs are expanded and they are pretty long and you scroll way to down the page it will be nice to have the task details be minimized and sticky to the top of the page.

TBD how it should look like. Created the issue just to keep the idea.

Here is a screenshot of a bad UX: when a user has a very long log to scroll though there are two problems:

  1. No easy way to see details of a task and quickly navigate back to the parent build or a dependency/re-run/etc.
  2. A user can have this tab open for a while and it is impossible to see which repository this task is for judging by this screen only.

Estimate: 0.5h

Just an idea: how about making the console area a fixed height, so the user can scroll inside the container and add a maximize/fullscreen mode for the logs which will make the element fill out the entire screen?

Other than that, as I understand it, you want to make the banner of the task step sticky, right? That's rather easy:

Maybe just having a floating button similar to "Download Full Logs" that will "Scroll to the Top" is enough. To not overwhelm the UI this "Scroll to the Top" can only be shown when "Download Full Logs" disappears after some scrolling.
