High CPU usage when displaying "<name> is typing" throbber

Open ainola opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Describe the bug

When a person is typing and the three dots are animated, the CPU usage of Cinny spikes CPU usage. It's not full workstation CPU usage but it's enough to have raised my eyebrows. I only have limited eyebrow raises in my life and I'd rather use them for more pressing things.

Reproduction

  1. Make friends
  2. Talk to friends
  3. Notice the CPU usage in e.g. htop when they're typing

Expected behavior

Either the same throbber without the CPU usage or a different, simpler throbber that uses less CPU usage while still conveying the act of the other party actively typing

Platform and versions

1. Arch Linux
2. Desktop version
3. Cinny 2.2.6
4. Self-hosted matrix-synapse-py3 on Debian 12

Additional context

Thank you for your great work on designing/implementing a client that is way more polished than any other.

Ah, there's a different repo for cinny-desktop. Apologies for opening in the wrong place. Is there an easy way to transfer a ticket? Then again, I imagine this is an issue in the browser too
