USB inconsistantly mounts in Model 3

I have had intermittent issues with the usb drive not showing up when plugged into my Tesla. Almost 100% of the time if I unplug/plug back in the PI the car recognizes the drive and everything works fine.

The issue happens both in range and out of range of the archive server. If I connect to the pi and look at the logs it goes through the unmounting/mounting process fine and shows no errors.

I have noticed from time to time if I plug the PI into my Mac I will get a drive not recognized error, but on the PI everything looks ok from what I can tell.

Is there a way for the PI to know if files are being written to the TeslaUsb drive, and if not have it remount it?

I noticed this issue as well but curiously, this issue did not occur with the original code. I happened after I updated the setup on 31Oct.
