Describe the Bug
Cider doesn't want to play any explicit media and will just hang there while all other music plays perfectly fine (recording doesn't have any audio, but I assure you non-explicit media does work). Tried the solutions on the closed issues, but to no avail. Same songs work on Apple Music on my iPhone and even on Windows, but doesn't bother playing on Cider. From the screenshot provided, you can see that my content restrictions ALLOW for explicit media.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open Cider
- Play an Explicit song from anywhere on the app

Thanks for your help!
Yep, the bug still exists. I am on the latest version on the in-app updater. There is also no option for any PTB versions on the in-app updater. (both have been shown in the pictures) I also tried to downgrade to a previous version, but the update kept failing. EDIT: I have tried the experimental release on Taproom and it still doesn't work.
Also, all the songs work on the official Apple Music app on both Windows 11 and iOS.
Also to add to the list of "Steps done to attempt to fix this" thing: https://gist.github.com/cryptofyre/01325a9a3e9ecc76580afee755ee2cf6 Still nothing. Apple Music's iOS and PC app works perfectly fine.
Also having this issue. Tried "Fix for Cider MusicKit Widevine Issues", updating to 3.0, installing and repairing .Net as admin, and rescanning all settings.
Just update to 3.0.0's PTB and the issue is STILL existant.
Tried everything I could that's been shown on the Cider website and community fixes and still no dice. At this point, I'm using Apple Music's Windows app + AMWin-RP for Rich Presence and LastFM tracking + RBTray to minimize the AM Windows App to the system tray.
Having the same issue. Tried both of the latest stable and test build. Unable to play any explicit songs. Checked all my restrictions all set to explicit.
Hey. Sorry, it's taken a while to get back to you.
I've reviewed the thread and noticed that you've already set the content restrictions to "Explicit." Could you also try turning off the Content Restrictions toggle and see if that makes a difference?
You should make the changes here. It should look something like this:
!!! it worked for me. thank you immensely.
These are the settings. I tried to put everything to the highest possible rating and then turning it off but it resets back to this.
Still no dice. Doesn't work.
Switching to THESE settings worked. Which is insanely weird, why does settings over at Apple TV change what music I can play?
Yeah, switching to the settings above just works now. That is so weird. Thanks for the help though!

No worries. It really is complicated how Apple has this setup.
Nevertheless I'm glad this is resolved.
That also did the trick for me. Thanks!
This is SUCH an important find, and a top search result, I wanted to add my experience as well in case it helps others.
I was able to fix this also but through my iPhone settings. It seems as though its pulling the setting from the "Content & Privacy Restrictions" even if the whole thing is disabled.
I enabled my restrictions, went to "App Store, Media, Web, & Games" and changed it from the default "Clean" to "Explicit."
I backed out and turned off the restrictions and everything works fine.
And just a heads up: when you return to the home screen some apps will suddenly be missing because of the content restriction setting change, but just swipe to a different page and it refreshes right away.
