Notifications on Windows 10

Open rmb-7 opened this issue 4 years ago • 14 comments

Hi,

I am using Windows 10. I have enabled Notifications (Sound and Desktop) for each column but I am not getting any notification.

When I go to Options -> Notifications, I am able to see the Notification Example on top right.

Thanks Ram

Try restarting the app, make sure notifications aren't muted (right-click an empty space, there is a Mute Notifications checkbox in the menu).

Hi Daniel,

The notifications aren't muted. I restarted the app and am still facing the same issue.

Thanks

Do you have any other computer to try? Do you have any applications that could interfere, i.e. something that prevents windows from appearing on top?

Hi Daniel,

I have narrowed the issue - When I have one column that has notifications set, it is working fine and I get notification. However, when I have multiple columns that have notifications set none of the notifications work.

Thanks

Interesting... are you running only one instance of the app? How many columns and accounts do you have in total?

chylex avatar Jul 15 '20 01:07 chylex

I am just running one instance of the app on my laptop. I have tried with 1 column, 2 columns, 3 columns, 4 columns and 4+ columns. In all cases, if the notification is set to more than one column it does not work.

Can you please try installing Dev Tools (checkbox in the TweetDuck installer), open it (Ctrl+Shift+I), click Console, and see if you can spot any differences in error reports or warnings between 1 column and 2+ columns?

I'm specifically asking for differences because Twitter likes to throw a lot of errors, so the list will probably be full of errors like

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 api.twitter.com/1.1/statuses/home_(...)

which isn't necessarily useful since it happens all the time, but if you see anything that only appears when notifications aren't working, that might be useful.

Also, if you find something, I'd recommend removing any potentially identifiable information (such as any longer sequences of digits or other characters that don't "make sense", those could be account or timeline IDs).

I just see one error irrespective of # of columns - Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 () https://api.twitter.com/1.1/help/settings.json?settings_version.....

Don't know what's going on then, sorry.

chylex avatar Jul 15 '20 15:07 chylex

I know I have the setting correct but I can try the whole setup on a newly formatted computer to make sure nothing is interfering. Can you please let me know the exact steps that I need to follow to do this

I am following a twitter user, let's say @xyz . I want to be notified whenever he posts tweets with a particular keyword. There are 3 different keywords so I need 3 different columns. For example - the keywords are - abc , efg , hij

If you can let me know the exact steps I need to follow to do this, I can test it.

Thanks a lot for your help.
