Cancel tab sequence

Maybe it would be nice if pressing esc will cancel the tab sequence in the snippet so that when you place your cursor outside of the snippet and start coding, pressing the tab will not return to the snippet. sorry for poor english.

Not _JUST_ the esc button, but any departure from the current snippet at all.

It's frustrating moving around the document, and having tab return you to the last snippet you used. As soon as you click outside of the snippet, it should automatically cancel the tab sequence. Same for esc, obviously.

It would be nice for the current snippet to either have a different font color or a different background-color while it is active. Maybe the whole thing with a different background-color, and the pre-defined insertion points have additional special styling.
