USB Monitor

I have a Toshiba portable USB monitor attached to my Pi. It works fine using xorg with the DisplayLink drivers. But when I install Fruitbox, the display goes blank. I read in this forum that Fruitbox will not work with xorg. Is there a way to get Fruitbox to recognize the USB monitor? The monitor is using framebuffer fb1.
