Feature request: Badge new post notifications instead of auto-scrolling
Mastonaut is remarkably similar to Twitterrific's interface, which in my view makes it the best Mastodon client. 😀
One big thing missing from Twitterrific is the way it badges new posts. On Twitterrific when there are new unread posts, you can see the number of unread posts with a purple badge on the top right of the app interface, as shown in this screenshot:

With this behavior, instead of the app auto scrolling to always show the latest posts, it shows that purple badge with the number of unread posts instead.
When you press the up arrow, it shows you the next unread post in the timeline and decrements the unread count accordingly until there are no new unread posts to read. If there are a lot of unread posts, you can also press page up to display several at once and it will decrement the count by several at once.
Obviously this would change the default behavior of Mastonaut, so if implemented, it should probably be implemented as a setting the user can turn on or off as they like.
(Nicer timeline behavior is definitely on my list, but sort of a bigger nut to crack.)
