When it is used in IE8, the CSS file is requested twice

I used it in IE8 and found that CSS files are requested twice, which is not friendly to the first screen load time. Is there any way to prevent CSS files from being requested twice?

@yohoflower sorry, haven't touched this codebase in a very long time, but don't recall that being an issue in the past. Does that happen in the test file as well or just your site? https://github.com/chuckcarpenter/REM-unit-polyfill/blob/master/index.html
