AirPods Spatial Audio always on while using Apollo
I have turned off spatial audio in iOS but spatial audio is enabled while playing videos using Apollo. iOS still thinks spatial audio is off so I cannot turn it off and it is very annoying.
Can confirm. My AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) have their firmware on the newest release.
5A377
3.64.0
Apollo is on 1.14.2
Using iPhone 13 Pro Max on iOS 16.0.2
Tried switching modes, reset airpods, restarted iPhone. Issue persists. Does it whether in noise cancellation set to on, off, or transparency. All other apps I’ve used so far behave properly with my selection of spatial audio.
Edit: I turned off spatial audio head tracking completely by going into the AirPods accessibility menu and toggling off “follow iPhone”. This did not fix the issue either. It’s specifically a head tracking spatial audio issue, as it doesn’t work properly for “fixed” spatial audio selection. It still tracks your head in “fixed” mode and “off”
Edit 2: I’ve noticed it only happens for “in-feed” media player. The one with the older looking media controls. When selecting the view in safari link or viewing a link that someone posted in comments, the spatial audio settings work properly. I’ll add that when the new style media player is being used it works properly. Image 1: In-feed media player where spatial audio head tracking won’t turn off. Only happens on media that retains the upvote/downvote arrows, comment button, share button, and three dots. Even when you don’t tap on the media for full screen and just leave it playing in the feed.
