Opening Android Messages from tray results in weird minimized frame (see screenshot)

Sorry if that title didn't describe the issue very well, but basically when I have Android Messages running minimized to the system tray, when I click the icon to re-open the window, instead of opening maximized, it appears in the upper left corner of my screen as a tiny frame consisting only of the minimize, maximize, and close buttons.
