Typing '?' brings up help

Open tromerk opened this issue 5 years ago • 3 comments

It is not possible to type '?' in a text message... the app bring up help instead. This is very strange behavior. I ask a lot of questions via text.

Go under Accessibility in the Settings and uncheck "Show shortcuts by typing ?" option. I got bit by that one today and had to do some quick digging.

~This was not the case until a recent update. Why is this the default??~ EDIT: I'm an idiot, this is clearly an android/google setting that they modified to enable by default in an update. btw I love having this desktop app and just enabled darkmode <3 Also for future poor saps like myself, the settings you're looking for are here: Screen Shot 2019-08-16 at 12 57 21 PM

Wouldn't ctrl-shift be a better option overall for this...especially as there's no secondary way to type a question mark?

Edit: I realize this is something that can only be fixed in Messages itself, not this desktop version...
