Messages does not stay linked with phone.

MacOS Mojave, Pixel 3 on Pie all with latest version updates available installed. When I open the Messages electron app on my Mac, it frequently (but not always) displays the pairing screen with a QR code, instead of my messages. My phone still shows my computer as paired. I have not noticed any trends or associations that cause this, but it is very annoying. Basic troubleshooting steps taken include making sure I'm checking the stay connected button, checking the app for updates, and quitting and restarting the app. Expected behavior is that the app stays paired with my phone, even when not in use for many hours or even days, and displays my messages when opened, instead of the pairing screen.

I've experienced similar behavior

Seeing similar behavior, however it only unlinks under two conditions:

  • I reload the app (⌘-R), or
  • I reboot the computer

I can close and reopen the app as often as I want and it will work just fine. But if I either reboot the computer or reload the app (⌘-R) it acts as though it is unpaired and brings up the pairing screen. As a result my pairing screen on Android Messages gets filled up with phantom "signed in" computer entries.

This only started fairly recently (maybe a couple months ago?) unfortunately I can't definitively pin down any action that I performed (software/OS upgrade, etc.) that caused this to start occurring.
