Updating duplicated Air app

An AIR app I've duplicated (YNAB 4) actually came out with an update. It installs fine on the main copy, but errors out on the dupe. I'm assuming it's hard-coded to use the original's installation details. So I'm wondering if I can somehow re-duplicate it without losing the data in the original dupe's data directory.
