Nice work. I like very much the KISS approach of your design, but without complicating things, what do you think about a simple express REST API as a middleware? I'm talking about something like this: https://gist.github.com/ovarunendra/24c0b74288700c6b3904

This will help to easily add other interfaces (web, mobile), as add-ons, without changing the core of the app.
