Feature request: pgenlibr: save pgen R data to file

Open richelbilderbeek opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

Dear @chrchang,

I was happy to find the pgenlibr R package to read .pgen files and I intend to use it in one of my packages.

The reading of .pgen files goes excellent, yet I miss the option to also save the data to another .pgen file.

Are there plans to add to the functionality of pgenlibr to save the data to a file?

I would be open to help in a way, e.g. by adopting it in my package.

Thanks for your reply and cheers, Richel Bilderbeek

I will try to make a basic writer available within the next month. What type of data are you working with (any phase or dosage info)?

I work with the data in the PLINK tutorial ( https://zzz.bwh.harvard.edu/plink/tutorial.shtml ) and the PLINK2 general usage ( https://www.cog-genomics.org/plink/2.0/general_usage (I guess you wrote that one!).

It would be useful if people could save to a .pgen after loading a .pgen file, thanks for your help!
