Hi! I'm just giving boxstarter a go for the first time and ran into an issue during setup. Right after windows finished installing I went to boxstarter.org and downloaded v2.4.123. I ran setup.bat, and it failed to install boxstarter.chocolatey with the following message:

Write-Error : Package 'boxstarter.chocolatey v2.4.123' did not install successfully: An object at the specified path C: \Users\ANDRS~1 does not exist.

My microsoft account created the following user folder c:\Users\Andrés\

Hope this helps!

ps: I attached an output view of the whole error after retrying the install straight from chocolatey

More info. I tried creating a second (local) user called "TestUser" and got a new error. Here's an attachment for more information

Thanks! I'll take a look. As for the second failure, can you try "unblocking" the zip file you downloaded? What OS version are you working with and also what "bitness"?

Hey Matt! Thanks for the quick reply! I was just testing this on the Windows 10 preview x64 (I know, I know... new os, unsupported, but the first error at least is probably easily reproduced in any version)

Also, regardless of unblocking the zip file, i tried running "choco install boxstarter.chocolatey" and it failed with the same error.

Cheers!

I have been thinking the same for Chocolatey and ChocolateyGUI :+1:

I just fired up a azure instance of windows 10 and installed all of the current updates. I then installed boxstarter via chocolatey. So far I have not been able to reproduce the above error, but have not yet setup multiple users which may be a factor.

Hi Matt! Thanks again for following up. Ok, so I went through it all again. Reverted back to the checkpoint right after install, upgraded to the latest preview build, ran windows update created a new checkpoint and tried again. Here's what I've come up with: -Installing with my microsoft account still fails. It tries to use that bad path and crashes installing package Boxstarter.chocolatey. -Creating a local user with no weird chars in it fails again with the same error.

I went back to the new checkpoint and tried a new user without trying mine first and it worked. So evidently the first failed install leaves something broken that you are unable to uninstall (tried choco uninstall and fails and there's nothing in control panel) and prevents you from installing again, even if it's with a different user. I hope that helps!
