Do references count for the total word count?

First of all, awesome work you have got here. Thank you very much. This will be the second year I am using this template and I can see it got (even) better.

One question: I do believe that the bibliographic references must be taken into account for the total word count, correct me if I am wrong. The current version of the template is not counting the references' text for the word count, or is it?

Thanks for the feedback @nibant! Yes, you are correct. Currently references and author info do not count toward the total word count. I will try to incorporate this before this year's TRB deadline.

I think that TRB should have already adopted this at their official latex template. Much work and time have for sure being spent here, and for free! Thank you again for your contribution.
