It was good up until 4.0.2. It has disappeared for a good reason though. The mysql2_chef_gem cookbook should now be used. [This change](https://github.com/opscode-cookbooks/database/commit/1c3494b391e539ad8403c9b8c0e87ada0d8f28bd#diff-04c6e90faac2675aa89e2176d2eec7d8) explains the situation quite well.
