syntax error in .pl file
At least that's what Terminal tells me:
Bareword found where operator expected at backup.pl line 11, near "
Thank you for developing this script and making it available. I'd really love to export my texts so I can delete them from my phone and regain some much needed storage space.
Thanks to chelseybaker for creating and sharing this script. If I can get this to work, I'll be ecstatic! Any help is much appreciated.
I am getting the same error, different line number. Running on Mac OS 10.9.2, trying to parse backup of iOS 6.1.3 made by iTunes 11.1.5: Bareword found where operator expected at backup.pl line 13, near "
My apologies for not seeing this earlier! I suck at looking at Github emails.
In my script for backup.pl, line 13 is just "if ($ios_backup){" I see no bare word. Did you edit it at all?
Thanks for getting back to me. I've been using Free iPhone SMS Backup - Export and Archive SMS from Apple iPhone

But I'll give your script another try.
Thanks again!

Thanks for looking into this, Chelsey! I haven't made any changes to the script at all, yet I still get that error when running on Mac OS 10.9.2. I don't have much experience with Perl scripting, so I'm really at a loss to debug. If I can try out anything else and give you feedback, I'd be happy to do so. Let me know.

I had the same error and it turns out to be such a stupid issue. When you're on the home page of the project you can't right click backup.pl and "save link as" because it will save it as backup.pl but it's really saving the web page that the link points to. Simply click the link to see what you're really saving.
What needs to be done instead is to click the "Download ZIP" button to download the entire project with the actual perl files. I don't see a way to download a single file after clicking on it from the home page.
