Describe the bug
Pin to profile used to work fine. Today I checked, and there was no pinned status on my profile. Other clients showed it fine. So, I tried to pin a new one, and got "unable to pin". Using 2024.08.01.818f58b, with GoToSocial.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Go to https://dev.phany.social
- Pin a status. It will show "status pinned", but it will not be shown as such on the UI.
- Try pinning again (because "Pin to profile" will still be available to pick), get "unable to pin".
Expected behavior
I expect pinned statuses are pinned, and the UI shows the icon, and the option to "Unpin".

- OS: [e.g. iOS]: Linux desktop under Chrome, and latest iOS Safari.
- Browser [e.g. chrome, safari]: Latest Chrome under Linux, and Safari under iOS
Smartphone (please complete the following information):
- Device: iPhone 14 Pro Max
- OS: 17.6
- Browser: Safari
I just tried with Semaphore, and Elk, and they both pinned, unpinned fine. Same with Feditext (iOS client). I also tried with an account on mastodon.social, same. This is Phanpy's related, and relatively recent.
@Fastidious just to clarify, basically you manage to pin it twice right? (2nd call fails because it's already pinned but not showing up on UI)
As of now, pinned post won't immediately appear in UI. You'll have to manually refresh the timeline (by scrolling to top or double-click the header or refresh whole page).
But it is a bug that pinned post seems to still show 'Pin to profile' menu and extra check for the pin state is needed 🤔
Pinned are not showing on Phanpy when using Phanpy to pin, but it is pinning it. The context menu isn’t reflecting it is pinned, and offering “Pin to profile”, even though it is pinned. Tapping “Pin to profile” results in “Unable to pin”.
I have a similar issue. Post says it's pinned but when I look at my profile it's not at the top and there is no pin icon. I have an account on a mastodon server, not mine.
