Handle Emphasis Indicators in Posts

Open rdpollard opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. UI feature request. I've noticed that other Mastodon clients (Trunks for example) are able to handle emphasis indicators when displaying posts, much in the same way Markdown does, adding specific symbols before and after an emphasized word or phrase. For example, using * or _ symbols for italics and ** or __ symbols for bold.

Describe the solution you'd like I would like Phanpy's interface to handle emphasis indicators, converting I am *really* hungry to "I am really hungry" and It was **HUGE** to "It was HUGE" when viewed in a post. The Markdown Basic Syntax guidelines on emphasis may be helpful. https://www.markdownguide.org/basic-syntax/#emphasis

Describe alternatives you've considered This seems like the most straightforward solution to adding emphasis in posts. No other alternatives have been considered.

Markdown support would be wonderful. It's one of the reasons I like the Elk client.
