This commit (c619a7c6) introduced this CSS rule https://github.com/cheeaun/phanpy/blob/c619a7c6b397562f3b3e995a713b0d6bcd91b28f/src/app.css#L949-L953 which I think is producing wrong styles.
Here's a screenshot of a correct (I think) status:
And a "wrong" one:
The wrong one has a "non-compact" original message (that seems to be the pattern). Is this intended?

Are you saying this first post shouldn't have yellow faded background?

Hey @cheeaun! I'm saying that, like in the first image, where the orange fade blends from the original post to the reply, the same should (or I expected to) happen in the second image. In other words, the reply post should also have an orange fade "coming from" the original post.
Does that make sense?
Otherwise, the orange fade stops abruptly and I think it looks weird, but it might be intentional!
