UI Suggestions
Hi! Had a call with Timo and Giovanni who asked me to create an aggregate ticket with a few UI suggestions in.
Maintenance Window Controls
It'd be great to have a bit more flexibility on controlling reoccuring maintenance windows. We scale our dev and test clusters down every weekday at midnight and back up at 8am, and at the weekend, down at midnight on Friday and up at 8am on Monday.
The Google Calendar Custom Recurrence interface is quite nice:
Expand All Button
During a multi-service outage that spans multiple check groups we'd love to have a button to expand all groups to save us from having to manually open each check group to discover which services are failing.
Option to Disable or Configure Pagination
Upon group expansion, we'd like to be able to see all checks in the group, in-line pagination seems a bit odd from a user perspective unless the group would contain thousands of checks or something, in which case, being able to set the pagination number to All or some limit would be great!
Result Ordering: Errors First
Being able to order the checks with errors first is probably most important to us for several reasons:
- Sometimes you'd like to see green and red checks at once - green checks can give contextual clues to red checks by, for example, showing you which services are deployed in a specific environment.
- Having some failing checks on one page and others on another page (especially in dashboard mode) means you can easily miss important information unless you catch the view at the right time.
Event Log - Group Information
In the Event view we can see the failing check names, unfortunately if your check name is the name of a service which is deployed in multiple check groups, there is no way to distinguish which check group each check in the Event log belongs to.
Event Log - Filter by Tag
It'd be useful to be able to filter the event log by tags.
Thanks!
@roobert thanks for reporting this. It's a bit of a mixed bag, so I will not add any specific labels. But I will tag @orcunilbeyli here our product designer.
I think actually all of the suggestions except for the Maintenance Windows one are pretty good "low hanging fruit".
Very good stuff @roobert! I'll definitely make sure to consider these with internal team and add to our next to do items! Thank you!
