JSDoc all the things

This will be a worthwhile task to complete once principal code work is done on 1.0. Go back and write JSDoc for each file (as necessary) and then look into generating a separate API doc in addition to the main documentation.

Not sure why I closed this...must have been an accident. This still needs to be done and I've confirmed it's a viable way to do types discovery without necessitating TypeScript.
