Problem with rests in Tidal sequences

From the Discord server:

k = Kick()
k.tidal('[1 ~ ~]!4 [1 1 ~ ~]')

yields the error message "Your Tidal pattern is using a token (~]) that isn't a valid value for what you are sequencing." looks like any rest to end a subpattern does this...
